Lead and supervise the Deck crew during cable installation operations.
Ensure that the vessel's deck equipment is operated safely and efficiently, and in accordance with industry best practices.
Maintain and manage the deck equipment inventory, including the tools and consumables required for cable installation.
Work closely with the Chief Engineer and other senior members of the vessel's crew to ensure that maintenance and repair work is carried out in a timely manner.
Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all crew members.
Coordinate with the Cable Engineer to ensure that cable installation operations are carried out in accordance with the project schedule and specifications.
Monitor weather conditions and adjust cable installation operations accordingly.
Prepare and submit reports on deck operations and equipment status to the vessel's management team.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 5 years of experience working on Maritime Cable Lay Vessels, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
Knowledge of cable installation methods, equipment, and tools
Familiarity with industry regulations, including SOLAS, IMO, and IACS
Ability to lead and manage a team of deck crew members
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applications.
Ability to work long hours and travel as required
Certification in Basic Safety Training, STCW-95, and other relevant certifications
