Operate and maintain the HLS and LCE systems, ensuring that they are functioning properly and in accordance with industry best practices.
Work closely with the Cable Engineer and other members of the vessel's crew to ensure that cable installation operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
Monitor and control the tension, speed, and position of the cable during installation.
Troubleshoot and resolve any equipment issues that may arise during cable installation operations.
Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all crew members during cable installation.
Maintain accurate records of cable installation operations, including cable lengths, tension readings, and equipment status.
Assist with the maintenance and repair of other vessel systems as required.
Train and supervise junior cable installation crew members as required.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 3 years of experience working as an HLS or LCE Operator on a Cable Lay Vessel
Knowledge of cable installation methods and equipment, including Horizontal Lay Systems and Linear Cable Engines
Familiarity with industry regulations, including SOLAS, IMO, and IACS
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and challenging environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applications
Ability to work long hours and travel as required
Certification in Basic Safety Training, STCW-95, and other relevant certifications
