Job Description:
An experienced Bosun with large sailing yacht experience is required to join a 50m Private Sailing Yacht (S/Y) currently based in Palma de Mallorca. The position starts ASAP in 2025.
The vessel is currently undergoing an extended yard period and operates with a crew of nine. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, technically skilled deck professional who enjoys both the operational and rigging aspects of sailing. The successful candidate will work closely with the First Mate, taking an active role in maintaining and improving the yacht’s deck and rig systems.
During the winter season, the yacht will pull the rig, offering direct involvement in rigging rebuild and refinement. Extensive sail trials are planned for May, providing an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives under sail and has a deep interest in technical sailing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
• Leading and supervising day-to-day deck operations under the direction of the First Mate.
• Overseeing rigging maintenance, inspection, and setup — particularly during the yard period.
• Supporting sail handling, deck organization, and watchkeeping under sail.
• Assisting with refit projects, sail trials, and preparation for the upcoming cruising season.
• Maintaining a safe, efficient, and professional deck department.
Requirements:
• Previous experience on large sailing yachts (essential).
• Yachtmaster Offshore certification (minimum).
• Rigging experience — must have solid technical knowledge.
• Strong sailing and deck operation background.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Motivated, proactive, and teamwork-oriented personality.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in Europe or already based there.
