- Minimum of two years vessel experience as a Deckhand
-Deckhand/Engineer or licensed deck officer experience
- Must possess a valid Merchant Mariners Document (MMD) or Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC).
- Must possess any AB rating (able seaman) with Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch (RFPNW) and Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boat with Life Boatman
- Must possess Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Must possess and maintain valid state driver's license
- Must possess and maintain valid passport
- STCW Basic Safety Training with Certificate
- Upon next license renewal must obtain "Master of Towing Vessels upon Oceans" endorsement
- Must complete the TOAR during qualification period
