Operate and maintain the vessel's cranes, including the main crane and auxiliary cranes.
Work closely with the Deck Supervisor and Cable Engineer to ensure that cable installation operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
Perform routine maintenance and repair work on the cranes, including lubrication, inspection, and replacement of parts.
Ensure that all lifting equipment is in good condition and properly maintained.
Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all crew members during lifting operations.
Monitor and assess weather and sea conditions to determine the suitability of crane operations.
Prepare and submit reports on crane operations and equipment status to the vessel's management team.
Train and supervise junior crane operators and deck crew members as required.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 3 years of experience working as a Crane Operator on a Maritime Cable Lay Vessel
Certification as a Crane Operator from a recognized authority
Knowledge of crane operation and maintenance, including load charts, rigging, and safety procedures
Familiarity with industry regulations, including SOLAS, IMO, and IACS
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and challenging environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applications
Ability to work long hours and travel as required
Certification in Basic Safety Training, STCW-95, and other relevant certifications
