The Medic responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Following the Safety Management System onboard the vessel.
• Providing primary health care for all personnel on board, including general health and safety administration duties as delegated by the Barge Master.
• Responding to medical emergencies and treating injuries and illness arising from incidents on board.
• Undertaking thorough clinical assessment of patients to identify illness or injury and pain and initiate appropriate patient management.
• Managing, administering and/or supplying medication and treatment to relevant legislation and guidelines to support the provision of the most effective treatment.
• Identifying broader patient health care issues and engaging appropriate medical services as required.
• Providing effective care during transport, as required, of patients suffering from illness or injury to facilitate the safe arrival to shore-based medical facilities.
• Operating medical equipment and implementing medical procedures to provide patient care and treatment on board.
• Maintaining all medical equipment on board in a state of readiness and ensuring the security, safety, and maintenance of all equipment.
• Maintaining inventory of medicines and controlled disposal of expired medicines as per regulatory requirements.
• Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records of all interactions and outcomes, whilst preserving patient confidentiality.
• Ensuring that patient history and records of treatment is available for future reference.
• Responding to incidents and emergencies in accordance with the Emergency Response Plan, and operating emergency equipment and appliances.
• Provide information, instruction and training for Occupational Health and Hygiene matters through, for example, organised training, safety meetings and toolbox tasks.
• Maintain the vessel clinic and vessel medical equipment and drug inventory.
• Medical team leader during emergencies and incidents.
• Complies with maritime and ship rules, regulations, and procedures.
HSE Requirements:
• Report all incidents, potential hazards, or abnormal situations to the Barge Master.
• Maintain a safe and organized work area.
Ensure that a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping is maintained within the Areas of Responsibility
