Job Description:

Curtin Maritime is currently hiring experienced Mate I, II, III for its Marine Transportation operations based out of Jacksonville, Florida. This position plays a leadership role onboard, working closely with the Port Captain and Vessel Captain to uphold Curtin Maritime’s three pillars: Efficiency, Innovation, and Integrity.

The Mate is responsible for voyage execution, crew training, vessel upkeep, and maintaining compliance through the Vessel Management System. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for professionals who thrive in challenging maritime environments and want to be part of a dynamic and growing organization.

Key Responsibilities:

As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
• Assist the Captain in safe and efficient vessel operations
• Train and supervise crew on procedures and safety practices
• Lead voyage planning and execution, focusing on Curtin’s operational standards
• Maintain vessel compliance via Vessel Management System (VMS)
• Promote crew morale, communication, and performance

Requirements:

• Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC)
• Minimum 200 GRT, Near Coastal w/ Mate of Towing Vessels OR 500 GRT Mate, Near Coastal w/ TOAR
• Valid USCG Medical Certificate
• STCW Basic Training
• TWIC Card
• MROP (FCC License)
• Radar Unlimited Endorsement
• Valid Passport or ability to obtain one
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Physically fit for duty, including working in confined spaces, handling heavy lines, and working on uneven/moving surfaces
• U.S. citizenship or valid U.S. work authorization (Jones Act compliance)

Employment Details:

• Contract Duration: Full-time
• Schedule: Project-based, rotational (varies)
• Day Rate: $540/day (includes performance bonus)
• Benefits: Paid travel, accommodations, per diem, medical insurance, and participation in training programs
