Key Responsibilities
Operate crane equipment in line with rated load limits and weather-related derating guidelines.
Conduct safe personnel and equipment basket transfers only under verified safe conditions.
Manage independent lifts according to certification level (Stage 2 – inboard lifts, Stage 3 – offshore lifts).
Monitor crane surroundings to avoid collisions with onboard equipment.
Coordinate multi-crane operations, ensuring clear communication and safe execution.
Collaborate with deck supervisors to plan and execute lift strategies.
Report mechanical or control issues immediately to supervisors.
Inspect crane wire ropes daily, addressing wear or failure risks.
Perform maintenance, cleanliness routines, and weekly inspections in line with OEM standards.
Document lifts over 50 tonnes in the operational logbook.
Supervise and support tuggerhoist operators during complex lifts.
Suspend operations when safety concerns or technical uncertainties arise.
Execute lifts under the guidance of the Deck Foreman, reporting to the 1st Assistant.
Requirements / Qualifications / Competence
Minimum 5 years of offshore experience on heavy-lift or construction vessels (not drilling rigs).
At least 5 years operating main cranes with capacities 250–2000 tonnes; significant experience with ≥400-tonne cranes required.
Familiarity with crane systems such as NOV, HUISMAN, AMCLYDE, LIEBHERR preferred.
