Overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of the vessel's engines, boilers, pumps, and other mechanical systems.
Managing the engineering crew, including training, supervision, and performance evaluations.
Developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs to ensure the continued reliability and efficiency of the vessel's mechanical systems.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant national and international laws and regulations related to the operation and maintenance of the vessel's mechanical systems.
Maintaining accurate records of the vessel's engineering activities, including logs of maintenance and repair work and fuel consumption.
Managing the budget for the vessel's engineering department, including purchasing and inventory control.
Overseeing the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment, as needed.
Coordinating with other shipboard departments, such as the Deck Department, to ensure that the vessel is operated safely and efficiently.
Participating in emergency response drills and exercises, and providing leadership during emergency situations.
