Responsibility
◾ Perform any repair jobs and maintenance work which require welding and/or cutting by oxygen/acetylene equipment, as directed by the immediate superior.
◾ Supervise gas (acetylene) and oxygen installation and the welding transformers etc.
◾ Before starting any welding or use of open fire, ensure approval from OIM/Drilling Section Leader.
◾ Before starting any welding or cutting on tank tops, bulkheads, or constructions, ensure also the approval from immediate superior.
◾ Ensure posting of fireguards when carrying out hot work. Fireguards may not be considered necessary when the work is executed inside the welding shop.
◾ Ensure implementation of the work permit system in respect of hot work and working aloft.
◾ Informing the immediate superior of any deviation from the procedure specified for the individual job.
◾ Ensure that relevant requirements of the Management System are used as the term of reference for involved activities.
◾ Ensure the safety of all personnel working under his supervision.
◾ Check and report regularly the stock of acetylene, oxygen, and electrodes.
