Description
Responsibilities:
Conduct geotechnical surveys using specialized equipment, including seabed sampling tools, drilling rigs, and geotechnical laboratory equipment.
Collect, analyze, and interpret soil and seabed data, including soil strength, composition, and permeability, to generate geotechnical reports and provide recommendations for engineering design and construction.
Operate and maintain survey equipment and tools, ensuring that they are functioning properly and in accordance with industry best practices.
Monitor weather and environmental conditions to ensure safe and effective survey operations.
Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all crew members during survey operations.
Maintain accurate records of all survey data and equipment status.
Assist with the maintenance and repair of other vessel systems as required.
Train and supervise junior survey crew members as required.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Sciences, or related field
At least 3 years of experience conducting geotechnical surveys in an offshore environment
Experience with geotechnical survey equipment and tools, including seabed sampling tools, drilling rigs, and geotechnical laboratory equipment
Knowledge of soil and seabed sampling techniques and data analysis
Familiarity with industry regulations, including SOLAS, IMO, and IACS
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and challenging environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applications
Ability to work long hours and travel as required
Certification in Basic Safety Training, STCW-95, and other relevant certifications
