Reporting to the Tug Boat Captain and Superintendent, the incumbent will perform mechanical operations and maintenance on Z-Drive vessel. The incumbent will be required to work in the Port of Kingston, Jamaica.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance on the main engine and auxiliary equipment;
Operate the electrical, mechanical and hydraulic control systems and the offshore refueling equipment;
Operate and maintain the refrigeration, ventilation and air conditioning equipment;
Ensure the application of the safety management system;
Monitor the operating parameters of the main engine (pressure, temperature, oil levels) and report any anomalies;
Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System;
Perform any other related duties as requested by his immediate supervisor
Constantly monitor vessel operations and provide suggestions/initiatives for improvement;
Provide proper handover to on signing chief engineer on all duties performed and outstanding
Follow up on preventive maintenance system tasks (update daily & report deficiencies)
Requirements
Hold a valid certificate of competency to act as Engineer on board a tug of over 3000 KW in near coastal;
Hold a valid medical certificate issued by Maritime Authority of Jamaica;
Hold a valid certificate of proficiency of Medical First Aid;
Hold a valid certificate of proficiency of Basic Safety Training
Hold a valid Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft boats other than fast-rescue boats
Hold a valid Certificate of Proficiency in Advanced Firefighting;
Hold a certificate of proficiency of Designated Ship Security Duties;
Have 3 to 5 years of experience as Engineer;
Good knowledge of diesel motor mechanics;
Available to work on a rotation schedule.
