As an Assistant Derrickhand, you will play a vital role in supporting the operations of an oil or gas drilling rig. Working under the direction of the Derrickhand and the Driller, your primary responsibility will be to assist with the safe and efficient operation of the derrick and drilling equipment. This position requires physical strength, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to safety.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the setup and dismantling of the drilling rig, including the derrick and associated equipment
Handle and position drilling tools, pipes, and equipment using appropriate manual and mechanical method
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that equipment is stored properly and safely
Assist in the operation of drilling machinery, including hoisting systems, mud pumps, and power tools
Assist with the mixing and handling of drilling fluids, ensuring that proper procedures are followed
Participate in rigging up and rigging down operations, including the assembly and disassembly of equipmen
Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any malfunctions or damages to the Derrickhand or Driller
Perform general maintenance and repairs on equipment as required, under the supervision of experienced personnel
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
