A Crewed yacht charter delivers the ultimate all-inclusive vacation on the water aboard an exclusive sailing or power catamaran. Complete with a professional crew, guests can enjoy the nautical skills and local knowledge of a captain alongside gourmet meals prepared by a chef. On the larger yachts they also enjoy a high level of service and hospitality from a steward/ess.
At times management may assign additional tasks relating to the position which may include day sails, photo shoots, briefings, boat shows etc. When the yacht is not on charter the position involves base work and duties.
Please note one double cabin/berth will be provided as accommodation for the captain and the chef to share.
What the Captain will be doing:
Ensure the safety of all clients throughout the charter
Be responsible for the safe piloting, navigation, anchoring and operation of the yacht at all times
Maintain all technical and general aspects of the yacht including equipment and the dinghy to The Moorings standard, including regular maintenance checks and services as directed by the technical manager
Keep an updated log book recording hours, passages and mileage and report to the technical manager
Keep accounting records in good order, and ensure that expenditure is kept within the charter budget
Communicate with clients in advance of charters using the company provided email address
Greet clients and assist with boarding, followed by a welcome brief covering safety and relevant yacht information, including the whereabouts of all safety equipment
Act as a host for the charter party, organising activities and excursions as required, and providing local information throughout the charter
Provide basic instruction for snorkelling, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding
Run safe watersports activities from the tender including kneeboarding, tubing, and waterskiing
Create and serve a selection of cocktails to clients throughout charter
Clean the yacht in preparation for charter and during the charter
Report any incidents during charter to the manager, initially verbally and followed by a written report
Any other duties as directed by the manager
What the Chef will be doing:
Be responsible for menu planning and provisioning of the yacht for charter. Ensure that the menu is in accordance with the guest’s preference sheets and that meals are well prepared and tastefully presented
Daily housekeeping of all guest areas of the yacht to The Moorings’ standard
Communicate with clients in advance of charters using the company provided email address
Keep accounting records in good order, and ensure that expenditure is kept within the charter budget
Ensure snacks are available at all times for guests to help themselves
Keep the galley and equipment clean and organised at all times and clean up following each meal
Preparation of the cabins with linen prior to guest arrival, and completion of a mid-week linen change during charter
Clean the yacht in preparation for charter and during the charter
Act as a host for the charter party, organising activities and excursions as required, and providing local information throughout the charter
Help ensure the safety of guests throughout the charter
Assist the captain in providing basic instruction/assistance with snorkelling and other water sports
Assist the captain with all elements of deck work as required
Any other duties as directed by the manager
What we are looking for in a captain:
Yacht Master Offshore commercially endorsed or USCG 100 tonne or BVI Boatmasters
Relevant Medical (must be in date for the full contract)
Previous experience in a similar position
C1/D US visa
Strong technical experience on similar sized yachts and systems
Experience running watersports from a tender
Ability to communicate with customers at all levels
Experience working to budgets
Experience in a leadership position
Previous cocktail making experience
Language Skills (desirable)
What we are looking for in a chef:
STCW
Previous experience in a similar position
Experience in a culinary position within a commercial environment
Experience working to dietary requirements and particular preferences
Previous waiting and housekeeping experience
Ability to communicate with customers at all levels
Experience working to budgets
C1/D US visa
Competent Crew/Day Skipper or equivalent level of experience, and Powerboat Level 2 (desirable)
Language Skills (desirable)
